I was reading Rachel Carson and she had warned that is a species was removed it would come back to harm us with millions of dollars in costs. Look what is happening! We are spending over $1,000,000 per tortoise because they are so important for the ecosystem that we have destroyed. Saving the California condor at the cost of over $100,000 per bird. This is what the endangered species act is all about. Saving the one species so the dominos don't fall. This is so important, that the Sierra Club and Government have put it as a top funding priority. http://www.sierraclub.org/habitat/ecosystems/condor.aspx http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/wilderness-resources/stories/solar-showdown-in-california-tortoises-desert-home Now these people want to stop it: http://westinstenv.org/wildpeop/2010/05/27/esa-not-about-saving-species/...
